Kathleen Marie's Wonderful Wonderland

Dear Friends,

I have been sorting out the projects for this new year.. The top of my list is to release a seriously limited edition of Alice in Wonderland Porcelain Dolls. They are all One of a Kind, based on the characters in the Lewis Carroll book. Being of a somewhat dark(er) nature.. they all have a bit of darkness surrounding them, which only means more gravity and meaningfullness...

I have some sketches here, for somewhat of a 'movie trailer' type preview. The dolls are 18" tall, porcelain hands, feet and head/chest plates with cloth bodies and armatures.
All Dolls are vintage, and have been reworked by me..

((I am looking for a teacher in porcelain doll making/mold making in the NYC area, if anyone can recommend someone?))

This is my first serious venture into doll work, and I am excruciatingly excited and excruciatingly shy about it simultaneously! I don't want to give too much away.

I think these lovelies will live at HerDark Heart.com, which will become another online store for my doll work. I don't think they will fit in with my 18th century wigs and Accoutrements at Antoinette's Atelier...

on to the Sketches (and they are quick ones, at that!)..

Late Late Evening For Me...
K. Marie

ps. I have started collecting ornate vintage teacups and am dying for a Wallace Baroque tea set ( pre-1940) ( Or the most ornate Tea Service I can find..).. Perhaps being in 'Wonderland' is rubbing off? :)

Oh, I wish I was a Rococo-oco Dandie...and New Projects for 2010 PT 1.

Dear Friends,

Yes, Once again we have a new hairstyle pour le fancie people!
This is More specifically for Fancy Dandies, or Lovely Androgynes.
It is the new 'Duke d'Orleans' wig or maybe I should name it 'The Pompadour?'..
It has a bit of Elvis in it, don't you think?!

I have put this up in my store, please note it can be special ordered in several colours to meet your preference, just inquire!

I always have so many projects going on, as my loved ones know! 2010 has to be a better year for me than 2009. After much hardship and trials I have endured 2009, so I am longing for a better year...

In late Feb/early March, I will be debuting my line of limited edition porcelain dolls. They are all One of a Kind, salvaged from vintage dolls. I have been working on these one and off for quite some time now. I am so excited for this!

In a special tribute to Alice in Wonderland and Tim Burton, I will have a special Wonderland presentation! I may open them up to pre-orders, as I am not sure I can finish them all in time for March!

Think Edward Gorey's Ghastlycrumb Tinies meets Kathleen Marie's Victorian Lovelies!...
They have a bit of a gothique touches here and there, where I cannot stray too far from, that being the opposing side to all the beautiful, tinkling, pretty things...

Hence..
Her Dark Heart is where my doll collection will be advertised, and linked to an etsy store of the same name.

Stay tuned as I should post pictures in progress here!

The Constanze; a New 18th Century Rococo Wig by Kathleen Marie

Dear Friends,

And now (drum roll please!) I present a new addition to my current
menagerie of 18th century hairstyles for the Discerning and Fashionable
Lady of Quality..

This is the Constanze, named appropriately after Constanze Mozart.
(It reminded me of the 1984 movie Amadeus scene where Constanze
visits Salieri with Mozarts manuscripts.. The colour and style is almost exact to hers
in that particular scene.)

I haven't decided if it should be powdered or not...?

This 18th century wig is a beautiful auburn brown colour,
and will be available in the next week or so; providing
all goes well. I am still working on the finishing touches.

As with all my 18th century wigs, it is available for custom order
(when not in stock) and powdered for an additional fee.

I have another "Royalist"*18th century style wig in the works as well,
which should be ready by the end of the year.

*Royalist meaning Grande style and Queen's quality..*

Fleurishes!

K Marie

tragically short, but inspired life.

In the Beginning, God created BALLGOWNS!

This marks my foray into the world of blogging. Of which I am vehemently opposed.
It has come to my attention, however, that it may just be what I should be doing to lavishly and
lovingly display my work and projects for potential love, hate, and ( gasp!) more clientele!

I am also hoping to inspire others by documenting my projects and artwork,
so that more people can be led to create BEAUTIFUL authentic things, instead of trendy, throw away b.s.
Harmony Grace, and Proportion NEVER get old.

I may occasionally post disgruntled reminiscences of NYC, It is pretty unbelievable what most of us endure on a daily basis.

Now for *Beautifulness of the Evening*: ( let's see if I can figure out how to post a picture)

With hopes for better days,

K. Marie
